A Tauranga parade celebrating the success of Bay of Plenty Olympians will take place at 11am on Wednesday.

The Olympians will be driven down Devonport Road in Mustang convertibles supplied by the Mustang Club.

Blair Tuke and Tauranga sailor Peter Burling will attend Wednesday’s parade.

Peter Burling, Blair Tuke, Jason Saunders, Kurt Pickard, Luka Jones and Andy Hayward have confirmed they are attending the parade, while Andrew Murdoch is tentative.

Gemma Flynn, Brent Newdick, Lisa Carrington and Sarah Walker are yet to reply to the Tauranga City Council, a spokesperson says.

In case of rain, the celebrations will be moved to the Exhibition Hall at Baycourt.

At 12pm the Olympians will head to the Tauranga Yacht and Power Boat Club for a two-hour fundraising buffet lunch for the Bay of Plenty Sailing Academy Trust.

Club commodore Gary Smith says about 120 people are attending the lunch so far but they have room for about 250.

Places at the lunch are $50 each. If you are interested contact the club on 578 5512.
