Otumoetai College’s annual Bookarama fundraiser has failed to raise the same amount of money as the previous year but organisers are still pleased with the result.
A total of $11,000 was raised in the event at Baycourt from August 10 – 12 in which thousands of books for sale.

Otumoetai College PTA members Robert Pinkerton and Joanna Lilley at the Bookarama at Baycourt.
Otumoetai College PTA chairperson Joanna Lilley says while the event raised fewer funds than in 2011, the school is still pleased with the outcome.
“It’s a little down on last year, but I think in this economic climate I think it’s good.”
This year’s event was the 26th Bookarama with the proceeds going towards the purchase of a new school van.
“We weren’t ever going to buy the whole van; we just wanted to make a contribution,” says Joanna.
Students, teachers and parents collected a large shipping container full of books to be sold at the event, but Joanna says she has “no idea” how many books were sold in total.
Despite the lower total, Joanna says they will continue to run the 27th Bookarama next year.

I find the prices a bit to high for donated books, What happens to all the unsold books.
