Heavy rain overnight and today is causing surface flooding on a number of Western Bay of Plenty roads.
Surface flooding is reported on State Highway 2 at Whakamarama, and near Te Puke.
A tree has fallen across SH2 near Tanner’s Point, reducing the highway to one lane. There is also flooding in Rotorua on SH36 at Ngongotaha and near Rainbow Springs, and on Hamurana Road. The Te Ngae Road is down to one lane.
The forecast is for heavy rain to continue in Tauranga until midday and gradually tail off during the afternoon.
