“It’s been a glancing blow that’s taken out the right rear of the hatchback.”

The driver of the hatchback wasn’t in the car at the time crash but Ian says the vehicle’s passenger, who was sitting in the driver’s seat, was “extremely lucky” to not have been injured.

“What we will have is a significant amount of paint transfer on the truck.”

Ian is keen to talk to any witnesses, or anyone with information concerning a truck with damage to the left front side.

He is also appealing for the driver of the truck to come forward.

Anyone with information can contact Tauranga police station 07 577 4300.
