One of the Mount Maunganui summit tracks will be closed intermittently as contractors carry out resurfacing work during the next two weeks.

Work started on the Waikorire track - known as the “difficult steps” - on Friday.

The Waikorire track will be closed for about the next two weeks.

Tauranga City Council communications advisor Marcel Currin says the Waikorire track will be kept open as much as possible, but there will be times when it needs to be closed while contractors are working.

The Oruahine summit track will remain open.
