The Wairarapa CIB is currently investigating an incident overnight in which a number of gun shots have been fired at a residential address in Miriam Street, Masterton.

Neighbours report hearing several gun shots at about 8:45pm.

It is believed a vehicle is involved and Police are appealing for witnesses.

Acting Detective Sergeant Mike Smith says a scene examination has been completed, which has confirmed that a number of gun shots have entered through the wall of two bedrooms at the front of the address.

"It is concerning for Police that occupants were home at the time and one bedroom is used by children.

"We take this incident very seriously and are keen to hear from anyone who may have information relating to this incident, and are asked to contact Masterton Police on 06 3700300 or by ringing the ’Crimestoppers’ line anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
