Police investigate Te Puke stabbing

A man beaten with a hockey stick is in Tauranga Hospital along with one other person after a stabbing in Te Puke on Friday night.

Police investigating the incident say three people were found with stab wounds at a Te Puke address, and the fourth man who was beaten with the hockey stick was located a separate property.


Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Turner says one man in the intensive care unit in a stable condition, while another remains on a ward and a third was treated and discharged from hospital.

A 35-year-old fruit picker has been charged with assault and has been remanded in custody to appear in Tauranga District Court on Monday.

“The arrested male will face further charges when he appears in court on Monday.”
Greg says Te Puke Police would like to speak to a person who may have witnessed the assaults or otherwise have information that will assist police piece together the events.
