A home in Papamoa East is being guarded by police as they investigate an incident which is believed to have happened late last night.

The house is taped off and police officer is standing guard at the residential property on Papamoa Beach Road.

Police are also investigating an stabbing in Te Puke which is believed to have been the cause of road closures in the township last night.

Callers to the 0800 SunLive news hotline say Boucher Ave in Te Puke was closed off and there were a number of police cars on Cameron Road, near Jellicoe Street, at around 10pm.

Police have not confirmed whether the two incidents are linked.
