Police seek suspected armed robber

Tauranga Police are looking for a 19-year-old man in relation to the attempted armed robberies in Katikati and Waihi last month.

Rastaman Rapatini is wanted in relation to the robberies at the Mobil Service Station in Waihi and Park Road Dairy in Katikati on Monday, June 18.

Both incidents occurred within half an hour of each other.


Police are seeking Rastaman Rapatini in relation to the two attempted armed robberies in Katikati and Waihi.

Police have previously arrested a 17-year-old man and 19-year-old man in relation to the robberies.

The 19-year-old commonly known as Rusty Rapatini has family connections Mangakino, Te Aroha and Rotorua areas.

A warrant has been issued for the man’s arrest.

Detective Sergeant Alan Kingsbury says Rastaman Rapatini is aware that he is wanted by the police and warns that anybody involved in assisting him to evade the police risks being arrested and prosecuted.

Anyone with information concerning the whereabouts of Mr Rapatini is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Alan Kingsbury at the Tauranga police station 07 577 4300.
