Road warning follows car crash

Police are warning Tauranga motorists to behave and drive to the conditions after a two car collision at the intersection of Waihi Road and Birch Avenue this morning.

The two cars collided at the intersection in Judea just before 8am today with the drivers reported to have suffered minor injuries.


Two cars were damaged in a car crash at the intersection of Waihi Road and Birch Avenue.

Bay of Plenty Acting Road Policing manager Wayne Hunter says drivers need to be careful on the roads as heavy rain continues.

“Basically the message is watch your speed, watch your distances, drive to the conditions,” says Wayne.

Today is also the first day back at school after the two week school holidays adding to morning congestion on commuter routes.

The MetService reports heavy rain is expected to continue in Tauranga today easing into the evening with fresh northerly winds.
