Tauranga police are still looking for the man who crashed a car while running away from police on Saturday.

The fleeing vehicle is removed after crashing into a bank.

Police arrived at an Ohauiti address about 4.30pm looking for a person wanted on warrants, when a white car drove off in a hurry.

Police say the driver failed to stop for blue and red flashing lights and siren. Police lost sight of him after a few minutes.

Ten minutes later calls came to police about a car crashed into a bank on a rural road ten kilometres away. It was the same vehicle.

The driver cut a corner, nearly hit an oncoming vehicle and crashed into the bank, witnesses told police.

There were three people in the car. The driver and a passenger ran off. A woman who remained refused to tell police who was in the vehicle with her.

Anyone with information relevant to this investigation is asked to contact Tauranga Police on 07 5774300. Alternatively information can be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

Skid marks on the scene.

The most important thing I guess is "did he get the money or did all the UK Bankers get at the margin and clean out the safe already??"

keep the chase on

the police should not giveup a chase and let criminals get away.its a waste of resources.im sure the police can do with more time on their hands.
