Tauranga City Council staff are dealing with two sewer overflows following recent heavy rain.

An overflow at Papamoa in Bermuda Drive is polluting the Harrisons Cut stormwater pond, which lies between Santa Barbara Drive, Kokomo Key, Bermuda Drive, Catalina Key and Sovereign Drive.

The overflow was reported at 4.30pm on Wednesday. Water quality test results due on Monday.

The other overflow in Princess Road in Bellevue is affecting the Matua Estuary around Bay Street.

This was reported today but appears to have been overflowing for a few days. Contractors are on site cleaning up.

Health warning signs are in place at both locations.

So how much are the council going to be charged for discharging waste into our waterways. Farmers, who accidentally did this are charged - so what about the council??
