Police are investigating two incidents which happened in the East Coast overnight.

The first incident occurred last night about 11pm in Kaiti.

A group of people turned up at a party uninvited and a fight occurred, says Senior Sergeant Maui Aben.

As a result of the incident three people from the uninvited group required hospital treatment for stab wounds.

The injuries are considered non-life threatening.

The injured were two women aged 16 and 20 years and a man aged 22 years.

The incident is gang related.

The second incident involved a 24-year-old man who presented himself to the Tairäwhiti Police at about 5am.

He was bleeding from the neck and required hospital treatment.

It is believed the man was struck with a bottle.

Police do not believe the two incidents are related.
