A section of State Highway 2 near its intersection with Wolseley Road is now open after a logging truck overturned on the highway this morning.

The laden truck overturned on the highway north of Katikati just after 10.30am today.

Traffic was backed up along the highway as contractors worked to clear logs scattered on the highway.

Police, firefighters and St John Ambulance are at the scene.

The driver of the truck is reported to have been taken to Tauranga Hospital.

I am not at all surprised to see this happen.I travel this road often and have either trouble keeping up with fully laden logging trucks exceeding their 90kph by 10/20 kph. If not that, I have them tailgating me while I AMkeeping to speed limit.

SCARY ROADS
