Police have released the name of the man who died in a fatal car crash in the North Shore suburb of Milford earlier today.
North Shore resident Shungu Zhakata died after the car he was driving struck a pole at about 2.50am today.
The 26-year-old’s family has now been informed.
The crash happened at the intersection of Kitchener and Shakespeare Roads in Milford.
The vehicle has hit the pole after negotiating a long steep hill and sharp bend as it approached the intersection at bottom of East Coast Road at Milford.
The Waitematä Serious Crash Unit is investigating the crash.
