It is believed one of the cars was turning right into Cambridge Road when the driver failed to see another car travelling along the highway.

Western Bay of Plenty road policing manager Senior Sergeant Ian Campion says an elderly driver was shaken but uninjured.

Road Designer said: "I have an idea. Put a right turn in followed by an immediate give way intersection where you have to give way to traffic flying round a blind bend at 100 kmh. That should work ok. Get the jug on."

now why doesnt that surprise me.... that intersection seems to trap a lot of people cause they dont realise that sh 29 speed limit is 70KM. It is a very busy intersection as well. May be another round about could be put in. Tauranga is reknown for round abouts...........
