Road works planned for Welcome Bay are expected to go ahead this weekend if the weather holds out.
Tauranga City Council group communication advisor Meagan Holmes says depending on weather, work to rebuild the section of Welcome Bay Road between Forrester Drive and Waitaha Road is expected to continue this weekend.
As such, Welcome Bay Road between Forrester Drive and Waitaha Road will be closed to city-bound traffic, while Waitaha Road between Welcome Bay Road and James Cook Drive will also be closed to city-bound traffic between 7am-5pm from Saturday, June 9 to Monday, June 11.
Meagan says detours will remain in place through Village Park Drive, Waitaha Road and James Cook Drive for city-bound traffic.
Traffic heading towards Papamoa will not be affected.
The work is dependent on fine weather and contractors will continue the work further into next week if it is not completed on Monday.
Access to shopping centre and community buildings will be maintained at all times.
