New Zealand First is warning all sectors of society to remain vigilant after the Government’s complete U-turn on increasing school class sizes.

Education spokesperson Tracey Martin says the Government remains intent on cutting services with little thought on how it will negatively affect society.

“The Government hasn’t finished with its slash and burn tactics just because they have backed down on their stupendously stupid idea of bigger class room sizes.”

She says National walked away because of results they received from focus groups telling them that New Zealanders could see through their outrageous spin that bigger class sizes would mean better education.

“It was a dumb idea when announced in the Budget and it remains a dumb idea today.”
