Motorists are being asked to be patient as The Mall, Adams Ave and Marine Parade in the Mount will be open to one way traffic today.

The roads are down to one lane to allow competitors to participate in the Mount Joggers and Walkers Half Marathon.

A Tauranga City Council spokesperson says traffic flow will be affected from 6am to 1pm.

The roads are expected to be back to two lanes after 1pm.

I think the half marathon made some roads one way, the ’garage sale’ I’m not so sure. Great to see so many young and old getting off their butts and out of their cars and enjoy the place actively. Hell pedestrianise the whole area round the surf club and hot pools, would make it a fantastic area!

Traffic

I was sitting in the traffic around ten, thinking, tsunami, anyway to get out? NOT at all....a bus breaks down on the bridge/ or a crash on Papamoa Beach Road, sirens will not help. They not only had the triathlon, but the whole of the Mount Mainstreet had a garage sale.

Yet another event...

Too many events at the mount. How many weekends do they close roads for events?
