The driver of the car that crashed on Christmas Day killing two sisters is set to stand trial next year.

Hetaraka Hikurangi Reihana, 20, was arraigned for trial when he appeared in  Rotorua High Court today after pleading not guilty to two charges of manslaughter in April.

He was arraigned for trial on March 4, 2013.

Reihana was driving the car that crashed on Welcome Bay Road on Christmas Day killing Merepeka Morehu-Clark, 14, and Brooklyn Morehu-Clark, 13.

The girl’s mother Phillippa Morehu, 36, and Haki Tetuere Davey, 17, are both also charged with manslaughter over the deaths.

They were travelling in a separate car behind Reihana.
