A section of State Highway 2 between Katikati and Tauranga is expected to be back to two lanes by 4pm this afternoon.
The highway near Work Road was reduced to one lane on Monday afternoon while repairs were undertaken to fix a burst water main.

NZ Transport Agency reports a speed restriction will remain in place for two days as some of the road surface which had to be repaired as a result of the burst water main still remains unsealed.
NZTA says the site will be resealed on Thursday and the speed restrictions will then be lifted immediately after.
