Organisers of the Treasured Art Exhibition are expecting more than 200 people at their opening gala event at Ingham-Sears Mercedes Benz on Totara Street in Mount Maunganui tonight.

The Rotary Club of Tauranga Sunrise has also added a silent auction to the third annual event.

Project co-convenor Ross Brown says there will be an array of art works from professional artists, and art collectors along with donated works.

Ross says the latest works from guest artist Peter Wallers as well as works form his private collection will be up for auction.

“We have 32 items in the auction section with works from Peter Wallers, professional artist Susan Harrison-Tustain, Tim Wilson, Hayley Brown, Paul Ny and a two metre Maori portrait from aerosol artist Owen Dippie.”

In the sale section, Ross says there are 30 pieces including limited edition prints and artworks from Carol Hughes and John Towers.

“Works not sold in the silent auction will be priced and put into the sale section of the exhibition.”

The aim of the exhibition is to raise money for youth development programme Kiwi Can.

Ross says people can view the works on Friday and Saturday from 10am-3pm.
