A motorcyclist is being treated in Tauranga Hospital’s Emergency Department after being involved in a crash on 13th Avenue around 9.30 this morning.

A car and motorbike collided outside Oakland Lifecare and police are looking into the cause of the accident.

A Suzuki motorbike was damaged in the crash.

St John Paramedics took the driver of the motorbike to Tauranga Hospital.

Constable Ian Sadler is investigating the collision.

“All I know is both vehicles were travelling in opposite directions on the road and have collided.

“The male rider has been taken to Tauranga Hospital, injuries unknown.”

The woman who called the ambulance says she didn’t see the accident just the aftermath.

“I don’t know what happened.”

She says they have had problems with parking in the area because people always try to park where they shouldn’t and end up obscuring people’s views when they are backing out of their driveways.

“We have just removed two trees which used to block people’s views from the edge of our driveway.”

Another resident says it was only a matter of time before an accident happened.
