Police investigate woman’s death

Police are investigating the death of a woman at Waikato Hospital on Monday following complications during child birth on behalf of the Coroner.

Officer in charge of the Waikato Coronial Investigative Team, Detective Sergeant Michele Moore says 20-year-old Casey Missy Turama Nathan died at the hospital after giving birth at a Huntly birthing centre.

“A post-mortem examination has been conducted and we are awaiting the results of this.

“Police involvement in this case is standard in any deaths of this nature and is facilitated on behalf of the Waikato Coroner as per the Coroners Act 2006. No conclusions in relation to the nature of death should be drawn by routine enquiries of this nature.”
