Police are investigating the burglaries of two Tauranga schools in which large amounts of electronic and computer equipment was taken.

Tauranga Girls’ College was broken into on Friday night and Tauranga Intermediate suffered the theft of a large amount of electronic and computer equipment on Sunday night.

Senior Sergeant Mark Pakes is disappointed to see any burglary occur let alone criminals targeting schools.

Police are asking people who live near a school to be extra vigilant and aware of anyone who they see in the school grounds.

“If you are concerned at any time – be it over suspicious activity, dangerous driving, or disorderly behavior – you should not hesitate to contact the Police, either by dialing 111 or by calling the local Police station.”

Alternatively, people can leave information anonymously via the Crimestoppers 0800 555 11 line.
