UPDATED (4.01PM): A five-month-old girl and a two-year-old boy were taking to Tauranga Hospital’s Emergency Department after being involved in a two car collision on Girven Road this morning.

Bay of Plenty Communications manager Diana Marriot says a 22-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital’s orthopaedic unit in a stable condition.

Two cars collided on Girven Road this morning.

“The two children were treated and discharged this morning.”

Police, ambulance and fire fighters were called to the crash on Girven Road near the traffic light controlled intersection with Gloucster Road outside Bayfair at 7.45am.

A Blue ute and white SUV both sustained damage in the crash.

A Northern Fire Communications spokesperson says the collision caused a spillage on the road which has since been cleaned up by the Mount Maunganui Fire Brigade.

“No one was trapped and a baby was removed from a vehicle.”

St John Ambulance paramedics treated people before taking the two children and woman to hospital.
