A mini tornado ripped through Papamoa last night destroying house roofs during a wild storm. Firefighters were called to Longview Drive at about 8.30pm as residents heard loud bangs and swirling winds.
Three Fire Brigades including Mount Maunganui responded to the call and worked for about two hours to put tarpaulins on damaged house roofs. Several houses in one street were damaged in the storm. Keep checking SunLive for updates.
