An Otumoetai man has been jailed for two and half years for the daylight robbery of Bureta Pharmacy.
Peter William Houghton, 50, was sentenced in Tauranga District Court on Tuesday after pleading guilty to one charge of robbery and one count of cultivating cannabis.

Police interviewed Brenda Wotton at the time of the robbery.
Houghton entered the pharmacy at about 8.30am on January 17 and demanded drugs from staff member Brenda Wotton.
He then left in a hurry when his demands were met.
Detective Sergeant Ryan Yardley says the man was heavily disguised at the time of the robbery.
Later that day Police searched Houghton’s home where they found his getaway car, mask and three cannabis plants and growing equipment.
He was arrested by police and appeared in the Tauranga District Court the following day.

This clearly demonstrates the mind numbing effects of smoking cannabis. Using a disguise = good idea. Leaving it in your car for plod to find = bad idea. Duh.
