Classic Flyers is typically known for its extensive museum full of New Zealand aviation history but now it is also a place for youth to study.
The museum on Jean Batten Drive in Mount Maunganui is now running an in-house afterschool program ‘Young Flyers’ to extend their reach to students, who could benefit from the myriad of resources within the museum’s environment.

Margit Barreras says Young Flyers aims to make homework exciting.
Education coordinator Margit Barreras says Young Flyers came about through a need to assist and support parents with the task of enriching their kids learning and getting homework completed regularly and positively.
“As a parent myself, I see the value the museum adds to schools and would like to offer the same opportunity to parents.”
Margit says the world of aviation is rich in maths, science and language concepts and tying the excitement of this world in with homework and learning has been seen to increase student interactivity and productivity across the globe.
Classic Flyers NZ is a natural home to an integrated learning approach offering opportunity for exploration and discovery, all the while solidfying concepts in key core areas.
