Thousands of people showed up for what organisers are calling an “excellent” first day at the Tauranga Home Show.
An estimated 3000 people visited the show today and more are expected for the weekend.
Approximately 3000 people visited the Home Show today.
Tauranga Home Show organiser Graeme Martin says day one was “a lot of fun”.
“We’ve had fine weather and an excellent crowd. It’s been a great day.”
He says the new TECT Arena at Baypark has been fantastic as a venue.
“The new venue has just been such a blessing, everyone’s commented on it.”
After years of making do with marquees, transportable toilets, diesel generators and shelters, we have finally moved into the 21st century, he says.
Graeme says he is expecting much more people to attend during the weekend, but for a Friday in Tauranga today’s results were good.
“We had a huge crowd this morning and it’s been steady this afternoon.”
Hopefully the weather will play ball, but if it doesn’t we will still all stay dry, he says.
The Home Show’s doors will re-open on Saturday from 10am – 5pm and again on Sunday at Baypark Stadium in Mount Maunganui.
Tickets are $10.
Celebrity chef Peter Blakeway’s cooking demonstrations were popular at the show today.
