Get moving indoors this May

May is here and winter is fast approaching with shorter days, colder mornings and darker evenings it is set to get harder to stay motivated but Sport Bay of Plenty has the answer with a range of indoor activities in this month’s Play in the Bay programme.

Sport BOP recreation advisor Nicki Scott says keeping active can go a long way towards resisting winter ills and keeping on top of your health and a wide range of indoor activities are being showcased for Play in the Bay this month, which are ideal to keep fit over winter.

Indoors is the theme of all activities being promoted in May as part of Sport BOP’s new sports promotion programme Play in the Bay – which is promoting a new theme every month to encourage people to get involved in regularly exercise.

Among the activities on offer is Hot Hula fitness classes - which are new to Tauranga. Anyone interested can come along and have a go at the activity on Wednesday, May 9 at 6pm you can have a go at a Hot Hula class for a fun, hot core workout suitable for all ages. 

Just turn up on the night at Selwyn Ridge Primary School Hall with $4 and give Hula a go, for more information contact Soi on 027 220 1174.

If your little girl is interested in ballet, she can have a go this Saturday at 11:00am when Yvonne Edwards Dance School is having a ‘Little Ballerina Class’ for 4-7year-olds.  This is an introductory class for beginner ballet featuring music, mime and movement.  Bookings are essential contact Yvonne on 07 544 1919, the class costs only $2.

On Tuesday, May 8 at 7:30pm ARGOS gym are running an Adults’ Gymnastics class.  This is great class for fun and fitness for over 18 years.  The great thing is people don’t require any previous gym experience, so if you are a complete beginner interested in having a go, this class could be for you, contact 07 577 0603 for more information.

“So there are no excuses this winter.  There is something on offer for all tastes and ages,” says Nicki.
