The Eastern Bay of Plenty is expected to experience some heavy rain later this week as a low pressure system crosses over the region on Friday.

The MetService is forecasting a strong moist, northerly flow ahead of the trough, which is expected to bring a period of rain to northern and western parts of the both islands late Thursday and Friday.

Heavy falls of rain are possible for the eastern Bay of Plenty.

A showery westerly flow is expected after the trough passes later on Friday and Saturday.

Weatherwatch.co.nz says Tauranga can expect temperatures around 18 degrees for Anzac day today while reaching about 19 degrees on Friday.
