Crash accused remanded on bail

A Tauranga man accused of accosting drivers with a pair of scissors following a crash on Te Puna Station Road has been remanded on bail until April 27.

Reon Borrell is facing a number of charges in relation to a car crash on Te Puna Station Road on Sunday, April 8.


He has been charged with driving with excess breath alcohol, careless driving, driving while suspended (third and subsequent), resisting police and possession of a knife in public.

Borrell is believed to be the driver of a vehicle that crashed with another car before landing in a ditch.

Witnesses at the scene say the man then attempted to flee the scene by entering two cars and threatening the occupants with a pair of scissors.

Borrell has been remanded on bail and will reappear in the Tauranga District Court at the end of the month.
