A 21-year-old man will appear in Tauranga District Court today on a variety of charges relating to a number of home intrusions and burglaries in Tauranga in recent weeks.

The man, of no fixed abode, will appear on charges of burglary, theft and unlawfully being on premises.

Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Turner says the man was arrested on Tuesday as a result of the good work of Tauranga residents.

“It results from the good work of Cambridge Road and adjoining streets in contacting the Police early and noting the detail of that person.”

Greg says the charges relate to the incidents in the Cambridge Road area on Monday, in which the accused entered a number of properties in the Tauranga suburb before being disturbed by residents.

“The charges relate to the incidents in Cambridge Road area, and also other incidents in Tauranga South and the Avenues in previous weeks.”

The man will appear in Tauranga District Court this morning.

Greg says anyone who finds an intruder in their home should contact police immediately on 111.
