Surf Life Saving Bay of Plenty’s patrol teams championships contested at Whangamata on the weekend saw hundreds of life savers honing their skills in competition.
After a flat few weeks on the sea, athletes and surfers were treated to challenging 1-2 metre surf during the competition.
Whangamata club came out on top of with Papamoa second and Waihi Beach third.


Papamoa Surf Club came second at the Surf Life Saving BOP Patrol Team Championships.

Papamoa won the Surf Lifesaving BOP rookie teams challenge with Whangamata second and Pukehina third.
The competition provides clubs with the opportunity to compete against each other in a lifesaving related environment; testing participants’ physical, practical and intellectual capabilities.
