UPDATED: Power is back on in the Papamoa area following a car crash on Papamoa Beach Road around 4.20am.

A car carrying three teenage boys struck the power pole causing lines to come down.

Contractors have restored power to the area.

Meanwhile, the three occupants of the vehicle are being treated at Tauranga Hospital for minor injuries.

A Mount Maunganui St John paramedic spokesperson says a 17-year-old male, a 19-year-old male and an 18-year-old male were assessed at the scene before being taken to hospital.

The cause of the crash is still being investigated.

These guys were my mates too I was with them before this happened. It sucks that this happened but that’s what happens when you put a 17year old boy that acts 12 behind a steering wheel of a nice car. I’m just glad that all got out alright.

shame on you

I am one of the parents and i knew exactly where my child was, but shame on you theschizzle that you should wish anyone harm over a bottle of wine and bourbon, not all "teenage boys" are out running a muck. Maybe you should be on the end of a call saying your child is in hospital thankfully it was only a car and a pole that was lost not a life.

you wonder

if that’s the 3 teenage boys who broke into my place last night and stole my bourbon and wine. We got them on security camera so we’ll find out. Shame it’s minor injuries - and why were they out at that time of the morning? Where’s the parents?
