Heavy rain and wind is expected to continue throughout the Bay of Plenty as a heavy rain warning is issued for the region.
The Metservice says a low is expected to move east across the North Island bringing heavy rain to the eastern Bay of Plenty ranges.
The Metservice is advising people to watch for rising or already swollen rivers and streams.
Surface flooding and slips are possible and driving conditions may be hazardous in heavy rain, the service is warning.
The rain is expected to ease tonight or early Friday morning.
