Excellent letter by Captain ‘Health Smart regarding MNZ’. I don’t know whether it’s true but I heard that they have just appointed an estate agent to the top job in MNZ. Perhaps he’s a Master Mariner who has gone ashore!
Further to my suggestion that they should have burnt Rena. Of course the Salvors Switzer wouldn’t have got much money if we had done that. So Switzer did everything to salvage and make money to our detriment.
I now see that the Government are paying out $135 million towards the clean up. The Minister saying that he hopes to recoup the money from the shipping company and the insurance.
Well he’s got as much hope of getting money from a Greek shipowner, as he has of climbing Everest, and I doubt the insurers will be overjoyed at paying that sum. So perhaps people will now understand why I suggested burning her.
