A small section James Cook Drive in Welcome Bay is without direct street lighting after a motorist drove their car into a street lamp post there on Thursday night.
The lamp post was completely uprooted in the collision. Photo: Daniel Hines.
The vehicle involved drove off, but police who attended the crash scene later located it parked at a nearby address.
The crash was at about 8pm.
