Salvage Plan
Can this be true – a break in ranks?
Cos if it is, I give huge thanks.
At last it seems the mayor has woke
To see what makes we ‘raters’ choke.
The costs are where we have to look
And staff costs almost fill that book.
The time it takes to read agendas
Beats Guinness Book of real mindbenders.
Old ‘Stormy Stu’ has got my vote
You other guys should please take note.
The ship of state has hit some rocks
And council staff should pull up socks.
It’s to the pumps we need to go
To find the leak and stop the flow.
A starting point is clear to most
The ‘audit plan’ is not a ghost.
The present lot’s a pantomime
The ‘system’ has surely run its time.
A commissioner now springs to mind
But that plan takes too long to wind.
An audit can be done in weeks
It’s guaranteed to fix those leaks.
And payment can be put off too
Until results are clear to you.
To make this work you need to squawk
Tell this lot that, we don’t want talk.
The time has come for them to think
And bail like hell before we sink.

The blame game again. Used to be ’A poor workman blames his tools’. These days it’s blame anyone/thing, as long as it’s "not me". http://www.stuff.co.nz/business/6403692/Local-council-blowouts-hit-200m And this is going to continue, this rape of the ratepayer, as long as current councillors are incumbent.
