Pot on stove brings brigades

Firefighters from Tauranga and Mount Maunganui responded to a triggered smoke alarm in a central city flat on Wednesday night to find a pot left on a switched-on stove.

The people in the flat over the restaurant in Wharf Street had gone out leaving the pot on the stove, says Senior Station Officer Nigel Liddicoat.

The pot boiled dry, a smoke alarm was triggered and the brigade was called at 11pm to ‘smoke showing’.
