More than 18,000 plus people are expected to hit the roads in Tauranga this weekend.

This means being should be prepared for traffic congestion and road closures around the city.

The Blackcaps are playing India at the Bay Oval on Saturday and former Guns and Roses guitarist Slash will be playing with Miles Kennedy at Baypark.

With the number of people expected to attend the annual One Love Festival at the domain on Saturday and Sunday, road closures will be in place in the city centre to ensure safe operations play out with the event is happening.

One of the road closures in the CBD includes a section of Cameron Road which will be shut off to motorists from Midnight on Friday.

Large crowds are also expected at Bay Oval as the Blackcaps take on India in the second and third ODIs on Saturday and Monday respectively, followed by the White Ferns versus India on Tuesday.

Soper Reserve will host the inaugural Good Vibes Festival on Friday afternoon while American rock guitarist, Slash, will take to the stage at Trustpower Baypark arena later that night.

Tauranga City Council events manager Gareth Wallis says council wants to encourage residents and visitors to make the most of what the city has to offer this holiday weekend, but also plan ahead.

'If you're coming into the city, please take the time to familiarise yourself with the road closures and recommended routes so you can navigate safely through the city centre.”

Gareth says the weekend is shaping up to be a busy one – cricket fans were in for a real treat and there was something for everyone to enjoy.

'We've been working closely with event organisers to continue to grow the city's reputation as one of the country's premiere event-friendly destinations.

'This collaborative approach is reflected in the great array of events scheduled across Tauranga this anniversary weekend.”
