Motorcycles will roar through Tauranga on Saturday in what is being described as an ‘invasion’ of the town.
The motorcyclists are gathering in Tauranga to protest the government’s proposed ACC levy increases.
Protest organiser Max Neal says it’s difficult to put a precise number on those attending but is confident of large crowds.

“The word out there at the moment is that around 800 to 1000 motorcyclists will take part, possibly even more,” says Max.
The protest will start at 9am at Baypark and follow a route through Mangatapu, Windemere, down Cameron Road, onto Elizabeth Street, Devonport Road, Hamilton Street and finish at the ACC offices on Grey Street.
Motorcyclists will meet Tauranga MP Simon Bridges, who is expected to arrive on a scooter, outside the ACC offices where they will express their concerns about the proposed hikes.
Max says it is likely the large numbers of motorcycles will completely block Grey Street from about 9.40am.
“I do apologise for any inconvenience but I don’t apologise for the event,” says Max.
