The pilot who died when his Cessna Skyhawk crashed near Arrowtown Golf Club on Monday was Tauranga man Ian Douglas Sloan.
The 59-year-old man was returning to Invercargill when his plane crashed onto the golf course at 3.15pm on Monday, October 17, during a landing approach to a neighbouring private airstrip.
Queenstown police have not released any further details of two passengers who survived the crash, a man in his 30s and a woman in her 60s.
They have been transferred to Dunedin Hospital where they are reported to be in a stable condition.
