We must demand accountability

We have just had one of the wettest summers on record with more heavy rain expected.

We have also had water restrictions. Why?

Because our executive and elected members would rather build museums and cycle ways than important infrastructure. Being new here (five years) I watch with amazement the lack of energy and effort tipped into building of infrastructure.

Council insists the developers build the roads, footpaths stormwater etc. The utility providers the power and gas. They then levy the developer for future development and will withhold all certification and titles until their blackmail is paid. That done, they proceed to charge the builder for myriads of inspections.

Then five years later they are in court defending the stuff-ups previous highly-paid staff have made: litigating leaky buildings, flooding issues and incorrect boundaries to name a few.

We must demand accountability and core competence with infrastructure and not be building museums, cycle tracks, council offices etc.

I am sure Bob Jones would build a new office to rent to the council in a heartbeat and we could build some dams and reservoirs.
