Pilot Bay safe for swimming

Flushed wipes blocked the pumps and caused an overflow into Pilot Bay. Photo: Supplied.

Pilot Bay is once again safe for swimming, with the follow up water quality tests for Pilot Bay returning bacterial test results within safe levels.

The health warning signs which have been at the beach since the weekend, will be removed as soon as possible.

A blocked wastewater pump resulted in an overflow of wastewater into the bay on Saturday.

Samples were taken at several points along Pilot Bay following the overflow on Saturday.

The Marine Bathing Guidelines require testing for the presence of Enterococci and a result with over 140 Enterococci/100ml requires follow up sampling. One sample of the initial tests came back with elevated levels of bacteria. The follow up sample returned with all samples being within safe levels (under 140 Enterococci/100ml).

where this photo was taken, and it looks to me that TCC does not check them very often, they wait for things to block up and then put a photo in paper,DO YOUR JOB TCC and stop penny pinching, hang on we need a new TOWER and checking pumps all the time costs money, it looks to me that this pump has been blocked for a while, AND would have thought that there would be a screen before the pump to stop this but they would not think of this , and this picture would not have happened over night, its a sign of LAZINESS TCC that this happened and stop swimming, it probably cost $$$thousands to call out a (CON) TRACTOR to fix this as TCCstaff would get hands dirty, we could not have this could we, poor didums, anyway Sunlive winning the best news is AWESOME ,Thankyou. 10-4 out, phew.
