Tauranga City councillor Gail McIntosh died last night, the city council announced today.

'As a Member of Parliament and then Councillor, Cr McIntosh has dedicated her life to public service both on a national and local level,” says the statement this afternoon.

'Our thoughts are with her family and friends.

'Cr McIntosh's family have asked for privacy at this time. We will share any information about a service or memorial when it comes to hand.”

Gail was chair of the Audit, Finance, Risk, and Monitoring Committee, and deputy chair of the City Transformation Committee in the current term.

I was lucky enough to know and work with Gail and Tauranga has lost a person whose heart pulsed for the City. Her role as a Councillor and previously on the DHB was served with dedication- the way she approached everything.
