Maddi McKenzie's Chirstmas wish to ride on a motorbike came true in the weekend.

But instead of one, 80 members of the Ulysses Motorcycle Club turned up at her house in Papamoa on Saturday along with a handful of hot rods and classic cars and eight traffic vehicles.

Papamoa Lions club was involved in a big surprise for Maddi.

The 11-year-old is fighting a rare form of cancer called diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma, which is a tumour on the brain stem.

The time she has left is uncertain, says Adam McLaughlin from the Papamoa Lions Club.

"Musicians came all the way from Waihi and entertained well over 100 people who turned out for the occasion.

"There were raffles and the Papamoa Lions Club Caravan provided hot food."

Maddi says motorbikes were still her favourite.
