What’s On? Carols on the Waterfront

Good morning all you lovely SunLive readers who like to know what's happening in the region on a Sunday.

Did you know without you, this article wouldn't even exist?

It's two weeks until Christmas Eve – the period of Christmas office parties, present-buying trips, supermarket slogs among the teeming crowds, and just general busyness. But that doesn't mean you can't take some time out over the weekend to enjoy the events this great city has to offer.

Weather-wise, MetService is hedging their bets with a little sun and raincloud icon. Some showers may develop, but the high is 23 degrees, so dress for sweat.

The big event this evening is Carols on the Waterfront, a joint venture between Downtown Tauranga, Sun Media and several inner-city churches focusing on sharing the Christmas story, the birth of Christ and the Nativity, partnered with some traditional Christmas carols.

The family-friendly evening will begin at 5.10pm with a procession from No. 1 The Strand to the Edgewater Fan, which will involve children playing the biblical characters of Mary and Joseph, accompanied by a donkey. Everyone is invited to join the procession, and children are encouraged to dress up as shepherds or angels.

For those who aren't big on carols, or prefer a less Christy Christmas, there's still plenty of secular activities to keep you occupied. Check them out below:
