Police have identified the body found on a Bowentown beach on Monday.

The body of Jason Elijah Shane Manuka Lines was discovered at Cave Bay, near Anzac Bay, around 10am.

The 24-year-old Rotorua man had been missing since the boat he was in capsized on the Bowentown Bar on Monday November 20.

Jason was with another man and a 10-year-old boy when the boat tipped over.

The man and child made it back to shore, but despite search and rescue efforts Jason was not located until earlier this week.

“His family has been informed and the death has been referred to the Coroner,” says a statement from police released this afternoon.

“Police extend their sympathies to his relatives.”
